Project proposal for public energy awareness under Govt. project, URJA KIRAN 2022-23- Innovative Action program was prepared by Energy club and got it sanctioned from Energy Management Centre, Centre for Environment & Development and Beuro of Energy Efficiency. Energy ambassadors along with NSS volunteers, Union members and Green ambassadors were incharge of executing the project and meetings were hold to plan and execute the program. Students completed the energy awareness wall painting under the guidance of Dr. Rose Leena Thomas, Energy Club coordinator and Dr. Mary Ria of Hindi Department at Got. Muhammadens Boy’s Higher Secondary School, Alappuzha and placed eco-friendly banner at Private Bus Station, Alappuzha.

With the intension to promote entrepreneurships in students,St Joseph’s college for women organised different programmes, and formed a WhatsApp group with name – start
up incubation centre of St Joseph’s college for women for interesting students.

Post Graduate Department of Physics organized an interactive session with Nesla Najeeb ( First rank holder , M.Sc. Remote sensing and GIS) on 02/11/2022. Both BSc and MSc students participated in this session named “Something to Do”. She shared her experience in St. Josephs college for Women and also gave orientation to degree students about different opportunities after B.Sc Physics.
The PG Department of Physics in St Joseph’s college for women organized a training programme with the intention of promoting entrepreneurship among students. 46 students actively participated in the session. The programme was on 24/11/2022.
JOSEPHIAN ENERGY CLUB, PG Department of Physics in collaboration with Energy Management Centre Kerala organize the certificate course of “ Fundamentals of electricity and its domestic applications “ inauguration held on 09/11/2022 at 3.15 pm via google meet. Dr. Lusamma Joseph , Associate professor and former HOD of physics inaugurate the certificate course. Students are actively participated in the technical session.

PG department of Physics conducted a field trip to NTPC Kayakulam. 20 Students and 2 teachers were involved in this filed trip. It was highly beneficial for Open course students. NTPC is India’s largest energy conglomerate with roots planted way back in 1975 to accelerate power development in India. Since then it has established itself as the dominant power major with presence in the entire value chain of the power generation business. From fossil fuels it has forayed into generating electricity via hydro, nuclear and renewable energy sources. This foray will play a major role in lowering its carbon footprint by reducing green house gas emissions. To strengthen its core business, the corporation has diversified into the fields of consultancy, power trading, training of power professionals, rural electrification, ash utilisation and coal mining as well. The power plant is managed by National Thermal Power Corporation Limited. Kerala has three thermal power stations - Bhramapuram, Kozhikode and Kayamkulam power stations.
Post graduate department of Physics conducted a Capacity building programme “ I Y ENGLISH”. The main objective of this programme was to level up students with the global language. Dr. Rose Leena Thomas , Head of the department was the teacher coordinator. Abha Sandra Pramod, Bini. B Varghees, Sofia Kora joseph, Santra vargheese, Sredha, and Jifna job are the student coordinators.
Inorder to get an experience in a job interview we arranged a training session. We gave instructions to students and conducted mock interviews.
In Order to develop the ability of making video and editing we organized a programme to students.Asiya A and Farsana S was the resource person of this programme.
The PG department of Physics organized a training for making LED stars. The raw materials were collected from Ernakulam and were assembled in MSc Lab.
A session was arranged on 5 July, 2022 to make the students aware of the scope of higher education in the world after graduation and postgraduation levels. Dr. Vijayakumar S, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, NSS College, Pandalam was the resource person. The session began at 2 p.m. The students were enriched with the knowledge of the various opportunities through which they can reach greater heights.
APT TSE exam is a state-level exam for BSc Physics students in Kerala. 25 students from St. Josephs’s College for women participated in the exam.
PG Department of Physics in association with NSS and the green initiative committee organised an awareness programme consisting of a Quiz competition, SPARKLE LED bulb assembling, Signage making competition and a Challenge to reduce your nextelectricity bill. Out of these programmes SPARKLE LED bulb assembling and Signage making competition was conducted on 14-12-2022.

The induction programme Deeksharambh, Acquaint 2020 was a programme scheduled for 8 days. Institutional orientation for first year students were provided to nuture them with vision and mission.
The institution provides a wide range of security amenities for women within the college premises:
a) Safety at Gate: Surveillance cameras are installed at the college gate. The college does not entertain unnecessary visitors.
The gates will be closed during class hours and the students will not be permitted to leave the campus without a permission
letter from their teachers. Movement registers are maintained in the departments to monitor the students.
b) Collaboration with Departments of Internal Security: In association with the District Police Department, a complaint box is
kept near the College library. Action is taken by the Police Department when the institution or the students register
complaints like stalking at the bus stop, where civil police officer was put in charge to monitor the area.
c) Student Handbook: The contact numbers of various governing departments and persons that ensure protection of women
are mentioned in the handbook. The students can use this facility to contact the concerned authorities whenever they require.
e) Parent- Teacher Communication: A well established communication system exists between the tutors and the parents.
Guidance and Counselling Facility
The students are given guidance and counselling sessions confidentially by the faculty members of the institution.
Mentoring and counselling sessions are conducted periodically by the tutors to tackle the academic, personal,
physical, mental and emotional difficulties.
