Welcome to the Department of Botany! The role of Botany as a branch of study is gaining more and more relevance and significance in this post-modern era. It touches all aspects of human existence as plants are the sustaining force of life on earth. The Department was established in 1956 and we offer a wide range of courses and research opportunities that cover topics such as plant Anatomy, Taxonomy, Physiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Evolution etc. The department also offers certificate courses in Mushroom Cultivation, Phytochemistry and Vermicomposting Technology. Our faculty members are experts in their respective fields and are dedicated to providing high-quality education and training to their students.
Students of our department will have access to state-of-the-art facilities such as labs, Museum, recognized Herbaria and Botanical garden, allowing them to obtain practical experience and undertake research in a range of fields. Our goal is to equip them with the knowledge and competencies needed to pursue a successful career in Botany or allied sectors such as agriculture, conservation, forestry, or biotechnology.
