Exploring Forensic Science – Tools of Truth

The Postgraduate Department of Chemistry & Research Centre, St. Joseph’s College for Women, Alappuzha, in collaboration with the **Academy of Chemistry Teachers (ACT), Trivandrum**, organized a one Day Seminar on the topic *“Exploring Forensic Science: Tools of Truth”* on 30th July 2025.

The event aimed to introduce and highlight the significance of forensic science in criminal investigations and behavioral research. The seminar began with a welcome session followed by two insightful sessions:

* Session I was featured by Dr. Preeti Abraham, a noted criminologist and expert in counselling and psychotherapy. She is also a member of the Centre for Behaviour Modification Research (CBMR). Dr. Preeti addressed the psychological and behavioral aspects of forensic studies and its relevance in modern-day criminology.

* Session II was handled by Mr. Ajin Babu, Scientific Officer, District Forensic Science Laboratory, Alappuzha. He elaborated on practical applications of forensic science in the field, sharing real-world insights from the District Crime Branch.

The seminar also witnessed the book release of "Forensic Chemistry", a textbook designed for the FYUGP Discipline-Specific Elective, enriching academic resources for undergraduate students pursuing forensic studies.
