A three-day Nature Camp was organized by St. Joseph’s College for Women, Alappuzha at Thekkady from 31st October to 2nd November 2025. The camp brought together students from various wings of the college including the NCC, NSS, Bhoomitrasena Club, Nature Club, and Postgraduate Departments with the objective of promoting environmental awareness, conservation ethics, and experiential learning in the natural ecosystem of the Western Ghats.

The participants had the opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity of Periyar Tiger Reserve, one of Kerala’s most renowned protected areas. The camp activities included guided nature walks, bird watching sessions, trekking, Site seeing at Periyar Lake, and interactive sessions with forest officials and environmental educators. Students also took part in hands-on conservation activities, discussions on sustainable living, and awareness programmes on forest ecology and wildlife protection.

The camp provided an excellent platform for students to understand the intricate balance of nature and the importance of preserving natural habitats. It also strengthened team spirit, discipline, and environmental responsibility among the participants.

The three-day experience in the serene natural surroundings of Thekkady served as an unforgettable learning journey, inspiring all participants to become active advocates of ecological conservation and sustainability.
